Kings Of Conspiracy – Noisy Sounds and Heartbeats

Noisy, loose, French indie-punk, in the vein of Libertines et al, Kings Of Conspiracy could be accused of being a cheap import (though hopefully not made by child labour for 2p a day) of something we can make at home. Cue indignant shouts from the indie factories in the old industrial North East about foreign imports taking away all their business.

But, if we’re being fair to them, this is a reasonable album. The shouty, cracked vocals are slightly reminiscent of The Hives, singing in English with that hint of European accent behind them, and the music is fast paced indie with fuzzy guitars and cymbal heavy drums, lurching along like some minor celebrity trying on the way home from the pub trying to escape the paparazzi.

There are also some moodier moments, such as in the break moments of track like Corporate Bodies Shape Mary's Fantasies (don’t ask me, I’ve no idea what some of these titles are on about), and one much punkier moment in the snarly Hey You.

A good effort all round really, but I question whether we really need any more of this kind of stuff after being saturated with it over the last few years.
