Primitillian Army – Attack!

Interview with Primitai by "Sexy" Dave

Primitai are reminiscent of simpler times – when men were real men with long hair and tattoos, women were real women with faded tour shirt’s drinking pints, and solos were real solos that frightened the hell out of peoples grannies. We took a few minutes to catch up with some emerging metal talent and find how this Brave New World is treating them.

Thanks from Pure Rawk for taking part in this interview, hope you're all feeling rockin' today?

Graham: Wicked! Thanks for inviting us to the interview and loved your review of our album.

Rollcall. Who's in the band, what do they play and what are their principal vices?

Graham (God I hate and get so angry about whiny emo brats) Christie: Guitar & vocals.

Nick (I'll shag any chick who gives me her number after a set because I'm the flashy lead guitarist) Saxby: Lead Guitar

Jamie (I'll only smoke a spliff that's larger than a clarinet) Lordcastle: Bass Guitar

Chris (Any drummer who doesn't do at least 10 stick spins every number just isn't taking his art seriously) Chilcott: Drums

Main influences. Who made Primitai the raging metal monster it is today and why?

Graham: Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Judas Priest are the biggest influences. We've become the raging metal monsters because our parents forced us to listen to Steps CD's in the family car and insisted we always watch the Eurovision Song Contest.

Who've you had the most fun playing with, and who around at the moment would you really recommend?

Graham: We supported Trigger the Bloodshed the other week and the crowd went demented. A really wild stage presence and a quality bunch of guys with an amazing young drummer (think he was only about 16).

Emo. Who’s fault is it, and how can it be stopped?

Graham: We blame the parents who can only be into incest and Morris dancing? How else could it happen? The Government should insist on aggressive aversion therapy methods using splintered cricket bats, nailed clubs and attaching electrodes to their private parts.

Some would say there's no place for old school metal bands these days and we should move on. What would you say to them?

Graham: We'd say we want their names and addresses and we'll send the more rabid members of the Primitillian Army to visit them!

Describe a Primitai live show. Should I book the ambulance now, or just stand at the back quietly?

Graham: Best described as we go on stage, we play and the crowd goes wild! We always want to put on a show - ambulance not necessary but a few band-aids sometimes helps!

What are your ambitions for the band? Is it a part time thing, a career, or a path to world domination?

Graham: Our ambition is to have 8 out of 10 cats to have a branded Primitai logo. Failing that world domination and Jamie running for London Mayor in about five years time.

Anything exciting coming up from Primitai soon?

Graham: We’ve written seven tracks for the next album and we're looking to go into the studio this year. We're currently playing two of the new tracks in our current set and they're going down really well. We've still more pushing to do with the current album 'Through the Gates of Hell'. We've had some great reviews and we need to make more of it!
