sooner has the Pure Rawk 07 Awards gone, 08 turns up in style and celebration!
2007 has been an absolute ass kicker of a year for rock n’ roll whether
it be a host of legends taking to the stages again or the more intimate abodes
that have laid host to some of the most awesome rock n’ roll, trash
n’ roll, punk n’ roll … you get the picture. The Pure Rawk
awards proudly represent the latter however. Unlike the past two years, we'll
be having an awards party, open to everyone, at the legendary Marquee
Club in the heart of the rock capital on the 8th February to celebrate
the fantastic year of quality music.
Sometimes, awards nominations come
from a panel of blokes in a suit who haven’t had their ear to a radio
or even thought to turn on their PC to check out the latest band to add them
on MySpace … let alone to 
stumble
around with a pint, half cut in a stinky dive covered in torn stickers in
the middle of the week just on the off chance that they’ll find something
that’ll catch their ear. That’s why the awards are voted for by
the people that have – you! That’s why the awards party is going
to be dirt cheap to go to and why everyone can come – without you rockers,
there wouldn’t be bands like those you’ve voted for.
Us lot at Pure Rawk HQ had unleashed an open vote back in October and have now had to narrow it down to who got the most shout-outs for this years rock related gongs. The nominations for this year are:

New Breed Award (Voted for by the Pure Rawk Ed/contributors)
This year welcomes a brand new "New Breed" award which will be chosen by the editor/contibutors of Pure Rawk. The "New Breed" award will be awarded to a band who Pure Rawk tips to be the next breaking band from their efforts over the past year.
