: INTERVIEWS
Stone Gods Already with an entourage of die-hard fans, both old and new, buzzing around them, there’s a real air of ‘something special happening’ when this band are on stage. Pure Rawk caught up with Richie Edwards, Toby Macfarlaine and Dan Hawkins to talk to them about touring, pub quizzes, dinner parties and punching monkeys.
Head To Head: Sweden rocks - Babylon Bombs and Hell N' Diesel: With the success over the past few years of exports like Hardcore Superstar and Backyard Babies, Swedish rock is rapidly becoming hot property. Pure Rawk met up with underground stars Babylon Bombs and Hell N’ Diesel at their Billboard / City Showcase gig to see how this sudden interest has affected them.
LiViD - After nine years on the circuit, this unruly bunch of Stoke rockers are finally on the verge of releasing their debut album. We talk to the guys about the long ride, moshpit disasters and definitely NOT sounding anything like Rush.
Primitai - They are reminiscent of simpler times – when men were real men with long hair and tattoos, women were real women with faded tour shirt’s drinking pints, and solos were real solos that frightened the hell out of peoples grannies. We took a few minutes to catch up with some emerging metal talent and find how this Brave New World is treating them.
The Eruptors - Mixing the breakneck speed and power of Motorhead with some fairly off the wall sci-fi psychobilly ideas, they make a fairly unique noise. Having recently released their debut album Bad Time To Be Having A Good Time, a hyperspatial trip through war-torn galaxies and sleazy asteroid bars, now seems like a good time to have a word and demand they explain themselves.
Heaven's Basement - It’s safe to say that they are the most promising band of musicians in the past ten years. Good news for fans of good music is that they’re back with a toe tapping, fist to the air batch of new material and some very good prospects on the horizon. Pure Rawk talks to Heaven's Basement on the disappearance of ‘Roadstar’, new material, gigs in waiting and how they plan to put themselves firmly back on the map.
GU Medicine - Think of Barnsley and you might think of … well, what would you think of? Certainly not the home of one of the loudest, vicious, hard rock bands in the North of England. Nix had a chat with Ryan about the makings of album three, touring with Skid Row and The Wildhearts, their new drummer and how their delightful name came to be.
